Three days on Koh Yao Noi, a quiet island in the middle of Phang Nga Bay. Early longtail runs to the limestone stacks, a sea canoe into a cliff-ringed lagoon, and the stilt village of Koh Panyee.
Trip Experience Guide
An island stay arranged around the tides and the first light. Mornings go to the boats; afternoons are slow, in a hammock or on a bicycle through the rubber plantations.
Day 1
Koh Yao Noi – Arrival by Boat
Cross from Phuket’s Bang Rong Pier by speedboat, around forty minutes, to an island of rice paddies, rubber trees and fishing villages. Cycle the quiet coast road in the late afternoon as the light turns gold over the bay.
Day 2
Phang Nga Bay – Longtail to the Karsts
Leave at seven by longtail, ahead of the Phuket tour boats, for Khao Phing Kan and the limestone needle of Ko Tapu. Paddle a sea canoe through a low cave into a hong, a roofless lagoon ringed by cliffs, then lunch at Koh Panyee.
Day 3
The Hong Islands – A Last Swim & Return
Take a longtail east to the Hong Islands and swim off the white sand before the speedboats arrive. Back on Koh Yao Noi by midday, then the boat to Phuket and the transfer to the airport for your flight.
Boat days are set by the tides and the season, and the bay is calmest from November to April. Add a day and Railay, on the Krabi coast, is about an hour away by boat.
