Your Trip Preview
Four days in Tropical North Queensland, based in Port Douglas between the reef and the rainforest. A full day on the outer Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree down to Cape Tribulation, and the old railway up to Kuranda.
Trip Experience Guide
A warm-water trip split evenly between coral and canopy. Days start early to beat the heat and the crowds, and afternoons end on a long beach.
Day 1
Port Douglas: Arrival & Four Mile Beach
Land at Cairns Airport and take the Captain Cook Highway north for just over an hour, the Coral Sea on your right the whole way. Walk Four Mile Beach at low tide, then climb to Flagstaff Hill lookout for sunset.
Day 2
The Outer Reef: Snorkelling Agincourt Reef
Board a high-speed catamaran for the ninety-minute run out to Agincourt Reef on the edge of the continental shelf. Snorkel over staghorn coral and giant clams, see it again from a glass-bottom boat, and add an introductory dive if you wish.
Day 3
The Daintree: Mossman Gorge & Cape Tribulation
Walk the rainforest circuit at Mossman Gorge while the river is still misted. Cross the Daintree River on the cable ferry, watch for crocodiles on a small-boat cruise, and finish where the rainforest meets the sand at Cape Tribulation.
Day 4
Kuranda: Scenic Railway, Skyrail & Return
Board the Kuranda Scenic Railway at Freshwater for the climb past Stoney Creek Falls and Barron Gorge. After lunch in the village, ride the Skyrail cableway down over the canopy, fifteen minutes from Cairns Airport for your departure.
Reef days are chosen against the wind forecast, and the Kuranda day is set around Skyrail’s scheduled cableway closures during its 2026 to 27 upgrade. Stinger suits are worn from November to May, and we pack them for you.
