The city
What Singapore is actually like
Small, humid, and organised to a degree that takes a day to get used to. The centre is a ring of colonial buildings around the river mouth, the shophouse districts sit just behind it, and the whole thing is joined by a metro that runs on time. The heat breaks around five, which is when the city goes outside.

The zoo and the night safari
Singapore Zoo is an open enclosure design with moats instead of bars, and the orangutan colony moves overhead on ropes rather than behind glass. The night safari next door is a separate park that opens after dark, on trams and walking trails, and is the better of the two if you only do one.

Sentosa and the Gardens
The Sentosa pass covers the cable car one way, the S.E.A. Aquarium and Wings of Time, the outdoor show over the water at the end of the day. Gardens by the Bay is separate and worth the walk in the evening, when the Supertrees light up and the temperature is bearable.
Everything in Singapore runs to a timetable, which is exactly why four nights is enough to see all of it.
Day by day
Met at Changi and transferred to the hotel. Changi itself is worth an hour if you land early, the waterfall in Jewel is free to walk through.
A guided half day through the civic district, Chinatown and Little India, with a guide who can explain what the buildings were before they were bars.
The zoo in the morning while the animals are active, a long lunch, then the night safari after dark on the tram and the walking trails.
The cable car across, the aquarium in the heat of the afternoon and Wings of Time over the water in the evening.
Breakfast, then the transfer to Changi. Allow two and a half hours before the flight.
