Denmark and Sweden
Copenhagen and Stockholm
Copenhagen is a city of bicycles and water, and Nyhavn is where the painted houses meet the canal. Stockholm is built across fourteen islands, and Gamla Stan, the old town on one of them, is a knot of lanes around the royal palace. Both are walkable, and the tour covers the sights before letting you loose.
Norway
The fjords
The western coast is cut by inlets that run inland for a hundred kilometres with walls a thousand metres high. Villages sit on the few flat shelves at the bottom. The roads and ferries that link them are part of the scenery rather than a way past it.
Finland
Helsinki and the north
Helsinki faces the Baltic with its cathedral above the market square and a ferry network that treats the islands as suburbs. Depending on the season and the departure, the itinerary can include a night far enough north to give the aurora a chance, which between September and March is a fair one.
Four countries in nine days sounds like a lot until you see how close together they are.
Day by day
Met and transferred to the hotel, with the rest of the day free. Nyhavn is a short walk from most central hotels.
A guided morning through the old harbour, the palace and the city centre, then time of your own.
The crossing to Norway and a first night in Oslo, with the waterfront and the opera house roof you can walk up.
West from Oslo into the fjord country, with the scenery doing most of the work.
A full day among the inlets, with a cruise or a mountain road depending on the departure.
East across the border and on to Stockholm for two nights.
Gamla Stan, the palace and the harbour, with the afternoon free.
The crossing to Finland and a guided look at the cathedral, the market square and the waterfront.
Breakfast and the transfer to the airport.
